Ask the AI Assistant about your meetings

Ask about the meeting you're in, past meetings, open action items, decisions or who's coming next, during a call or between calls.

The AI Assistant is a chat box in your Cockpit. Ask it in plain words: what was just said, what you decided last week, which action items are still open, or who's coming to your next meeting. With on-device AI it looks the answer up in your calendar and saved meetings on your Mac.

Open it

  • During a meeting, the AI Assistant is a card in your Cockpit. Click in the box and type.
  • Between meetings, click the promptpov icon in your menu bar and choose Cockpit → Ask AI Assistant, or press ⌃⌥⌘A. (For the shortcut to work while another app is in front, promptpov needs Accessibility permission: Run Diagnostic… → Grant next to Global keyboard shortcuts.)

Type your question and press Return. Press ⌘K to clear the conversation and start over. Each new meeting starts a new conversation.

If you closed the card during a meeting, bring it back from the Control HUD's ⋯ menu (Show AI Assistant).

Set it up

The AI Assistant is part of Pro.

  1. On your dashboard at promptpov.com, enable the AI Assistant widget.
  2. Choose where the AI runs:
    • On your Mac (recommended). In promptpov, open Settings → AI, click Install On-device AI (~13 GB), and when it finishes tick Use on-device AI (Pro Privacy). This is what lets the assistant look things up across your meetings.
    • Your own key. Paste an Anthropic or OpenAI key in Settings → API Keys and click Save, then pick the provider for the AI Assistant widget on your dashboard. With a key (or your company's own AI endpoint), the assistant chats about the meeting you're in, but it can't look things up in past meetings or your calendar.
  3. To ask about what was discussed in past meetings, turn on Settings → Privacy → Save meeting history if it isn't on already.

What to ask

With on-device AI, you can ask:

  • About this meeting: "What did Dana just say about the budget?", "Summarize the last five minutes."
  • About a past meeting, by name, day or topic: "What did we decide in the budget review?", "What were yesterday's calls about?"
  • About open items: "What's open from last week?", "What are my open action items from the planning meeting?"
  • About decisions: "What did we decide about the launch date?"
  • About your calendar: "Who's coming to my 2:00?", "When is my next meeting with Alex?"

While it looks something up, the card shows what it's doing, for example Checking your calendar… or Searching your notes….

Mark items done

Ask "Mark the slides item done" or "Mark all of these done". The assistant doesn't change anything on its own. It shows what it found with two buttons:

  1. Click Mark N done to close them, or Cancel to leave them open. You can also type "yes" or "no".
  2. Changed your mind? Click Undo right after. It stays for a few seconds.

Only open action items can be marked done this way.

Shortcuts in the box

Type / to see the commands. They run right away and don't use AI:

  • /sign your text: shows a full-screen sign on your video, such as /sign back in 5. /sign off takes it down.
  • /action, /question, /decision your text: adds an item to the meeting's Notebook.

Put an answer on your video

Right-click an answer, or text you've selected, and choose Show as Sign. Short text goes up right away. With on-device AI, a longer answer is shortened into three suggested signs. Nothing goes on your video until you click the one you want.

The same menu has Show Selection on Video and Show Last Response on Video, which put the text in a callout on your video.

Tips

  • After a pre-meeting briefing, click Ask follow-up → to continue in the assistant. Suggested questions appear as buttons under the card.
  • An answer that ends with "(cut off — ask me to continue)" ran out of room. Type "continue".
  • If it says it ran out of lookups, ask again with the meeting's name or the day.
  • Right after a meeting, on-device AI may still be busy taking notes. If the assistant says so, send your question again in a moment.

Limits and privacy

  • With on-device AI, nothing leaves your Mac. Your questions, meetings and calendar are read and answered on your Mac. While Use on-device AI is on, the assistant never falls back to a cloud provider.
  • With your own key, your questions and the meeting transcript are sent to the provider you chose. Keys are stored in your macOS Keychain and never sent to promptpov.
  • On-device AI needs a Mac with Apple Silicon and macOS 26, and a one-time download of about 13 GB.
  • The assistant can only find what was saved: Notebook items, and past meetings when Save meeting history is on. It knows what was said in the meeting you're in only when transcription is on (Settings → General → Transcribe my voice during meetings).
  • Answers can be wrong. Check important details before you act on them.
