Reactions — signals on your video

Reactions put an emoji on your own video tile. Meeting apps show their reactions somewhere on the screen the speaker may not be looking at; these ride on your face, so the person talking sees them.

Reactions are on the video everyone in the meeting sees — unlike your Cockpit, which only you see. They work during a meeting.

The six signals

Brief reactions rise from the bottom of your video and fade after about two seconds. Badges sit in the top-right corner of your video until they're cleared.

Send a reaction

• Press ⌥1 to ⌥6. For the keys to work while another app, like Zoom or Teams, is in front, promptpov needs Accessibility permission — choose Run Diagnostic…, click Grant next to Global keyboard shortcuts, then switch promptpov on in System Settings.
• Or click the smiley-face circle on the Control HUD and click a reaction. Click outside the picker, or the circle again, to close it.
• Or right-click the smiley-face circle for a menu of all six, with their keys. A ✓ marks badges that are showing.

Take a badge down

• Send the same reaction again: press its key or click it once more. A badge that's showing has an amber ring in the picker.
• ⏰ Wrap up clears itself after 30 seconds.
• ✋ Hand raised and ❓ Question queued also clear by themselves a couple of seconds after new speech appears in the live transcript — on the idea that you've been called on. promptpov can't yet tell your voice from others', so anyone talking can clear them. With live transcription off, they stay until you take them down.

Choose your own reactions

Each of the six keys holds one reaction, and you can swap it for another.

1. Click the smiley-face circle on the Control HUD to open the picker.
2. Right-click the reaction you want to replace.
3. Choose a new one from the list. Besides the six above there are 🎉 Celebrate, 👏 Applause, 💡 Idea, 🤔 Thinking, 🎯 Nailed it, ❤️ Appreciation, 😂 Laughing and 🙏 Thank you (brief), and 🚶 Stepping away and ☕ Back in a moment (badges).

The key stays the same — if you put 🎉 in slot 3, ⌥3 sends 🎉. To undo, right-click it and choose Reset slot 3 to default, or Reset all slots to defaults.

Tips

• Hover over a reaction in the picker to see its key.
• If your cursor is in a text box, such as the meeting's chat, the ⌥ key may also type a character there.
• Your choice of reactions is saved on this Mac.

Limits

• Reactions only work during a meeting promptpov has detected; outside one, the keys do nothing and the circle isn't on the Control HUD.
• All badges clear when the meeting ends.
