Widgets on your video
Put your name, the time, the weather, a QR code and more on your video — everyone in the meeting sees them.
Widgets are small cards that promptpov draws on your outgoing video: your name card, your local time, a QR code people can scan. Everyone in the meeting sees them. That's the difference from the Cockpit, which shows only on your own screen and never appears in your video.
On your dashboard, video widgets are marked ON CAMERA. Cockpit widgets are marked HUD ONLY.
Turn a widget on
- Sign in to your dashboard at promptpov.com.
- Find the widget. Video widgets are grouped under Identity (name card, logo, social handles), Context (time, weather, Timebox) and Promotion (QR code, callouts). A few newer ones are under More.
- Click Enable. The button changes to Enabled and the widget is marked Active.
- Click the widget's name to open its settings.
Changes reach your video within a few seconds — no need to rejoin the meeting.
Place and size it
- Drag it on the dashboard. The Public layout box at the top shows every enabled video widget on a 16:9 frame. Drag a widget to move it, or drag its corner to resize it. Click a widget and use the arrow keys to nudge it by 1% (hold Shift for 5%).
- Drag it on your real video. In the promptPOV menu or the menu bar icon, choose Preview Widgets…, then turn on Live edit. Drag widgets on your camera picture; the dashboard picks up the change.
- Type exact numbers. In the widget's settings, X Position, Y Position, Width and Height go from 0 to 1, as a share of the frame (0, 0 is the top-left corner).
Keep widgets near the middle. Teams and Zoom crop your video into narrower tiles when many people are on the call. The dashed amber lines in Public layout show where: inside 4:3 stays visible with three to eight people; inside 1:1 · 9+ tile is safe even with nine or more people. In Preview Widgets…, turn on Show guides to see the same lines.
Style it
Each widget's settings include:
- Background — a swatch, or the color picker for any color (always see-through). The checkered swatch restores the widget's own color.
- Text — the main text color.
- Font — Helvetica (the default), Helvetica Neue, Avenir Next, Avenir, Georgia, Menlo or SF Pro Text.
- Size — Small, Default, Large or Extra Large.
- Style — on some widgets: Card (on a card) or Minimal (text only, with a soft shadow). The name card adds Broadcast, a TV-style lower third.
The widgets
| Widget | What it shows | What you set |
|---|---|---|
| Name Card | Your name, with role · company below and a pronouns tag | Under Widget Config: name, role, company, pronouns |
| Local Time | The time and time zone, like "2:30 PM EST" | Nothing — it follows your Mac's time zone. To show another zone, set timezone under Widget Config to a name like America/New_York |
| Local Weather | City, temperature and conditions | City (leave blank to detect it from your network), Units (°F or °C) |
| Company Logo | Your logo image | Logo Image — PNG, JPEG or SVG, up to 200 KB. A transparent PNG looks best. |
| QR Code | A scannable code on a white card | URL to encode, Caption (optional) |
| LinkedIn Handle, X Handle, Instagram Handle, GitHub Handle, Website | The platform's logo with your handle | Handle / URL — a handle or a link both work |
| Stock Quote | Ticker, price and today's change, with a green or red arrow | Ticker — a US symbol, like AAPL |
| Meeting Countdown | "ENDS IN 4:32" during the last 10 minutes of a scheduled meeting | Nothing — the end time comes from your calendar |
| Live Field | A short line of text a script on your Mac keeps up to date | Set up in the app: Settings → Video → Live Field |
| Timebox on Video | Your Cockpit Pomodoro's countdown | See Show a time box on your video |
| Lower Third Callout, Side Callout, Top Banner Callout | Text or an image you send to your video during a meeting | See Callouts |
A few details:
- Local Weather updates when a call starts and then about every 15 minutes. If the weather service is down, the widget says Weather unavailable.
- Stock Quote updates about once a minute.
- Meeting Countdown stays hidden the rest of the time. It never appears on calls without a scheduled end, and disappears once the end time passes.
- Live Field disappears when nothing has updated it for 15 minutes (change this in Settings → Video), so it never shows an old status. About 24 characters fit at the default size. Send test value checks it works. The text never leaves your Mac.
See what others see
Your self-view in Zoom or Teams may not show your widgets. Preview Widgets… shows exactly what everyone else sees — use it to check that a QR code is big enough to scan. Close the window to turn the camera off.
Plans
| Plan | Video widgets |
|---|---|
| Free | Name Card, Local Time, Local Weather, Company Logo, QR Code, social handles (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, GitHub, Website), Stock Quote, Meeting Countdown |
| Pro | Everything in Free, plus Live Field, Timebox on Video, and the Lower Third, Side and Top Banner callouts |
If you're on Free, Pro widgets don't appear on your video even if you enable them on the dashboard.
On the Free plan, your video also shows a small Powered by promptpov.com line in the bottom-right corner. Paid plans don't. If the promptpov app is quit while your camera is in use, the line can appear after about five minutes on any plan — open promptpov again and it goes away.
