The Cockpit — your private meeting dashboard

The floating panel only you see during a call, plus the Control HUD buttons that run your meeting.

The Cockpit is a floating panel on your own screen that holds your private meeting tools — the Notebook, the AI Assistant, timers and the agenda — as cards stacked in one window. Only you see it: it is never part of your video. Next to it sits the Control HUD, a small pill of round buttons for the things you change mid-call.

When it appears

promptpov watches for your meetings and shows its windows on its own:

  • In a meeting, the Cockpit and Control HUD appear at full strength while your meeting app is in front.
  • When you switch to another app, they fade to a see-through 45% so they stay out of your way. Bring the meeting (or promptpov) back to the front and they return to full strength.
  • Before and after a meeting, the Cockpit stays hidden (unless a briefing or recap you opened needs it). The Control HUD is still there, with the Brief or Recap button when one is ready.

Choose your cards

Cards come from the private widgets on your dashboard at promptpov.com — the ones marked HUD only, under Awareness, Timing and Workspaces.

  1. Open your dashboard (or click the … button on the Control HUD and choose Open Dashboard…).
  2. Click Enable on the widgets you want.

These widgets dock into the Cockpit as cards:

  • Notebook — action items, decisions and questions from the meeting. See Notebook.
  • AI Assistant — ask questions during or between calls.
  • Hard Stop — a countdown to the meeting's scheduled end. If the meeting has no end time it reads No end time; press + to set one from now.
  • Pomodoro (the Pomodoro Timer widget) — a focus countdown. You can also show it on your video.
  • Meeting Agenda — an editable list of agenda items for this meeting. It can fill itself in from the calendar invite's notes.

Other private widgets, such as the Teleprompter, open in their own floating windows. promptpov also adds a card when something needs you: No audio when your microphone sends no sound, and Which meeting? when overlapping calendar events leave it unsure which one you joined.

Arrange the Cockpit

  • Move it: drag the Cockpit by its title bar or a card's header.
  • Resize it: drag any edge of the window.
  • Change a card's height: drag the line between two cards. promptpov remembers the heights, even after you collapse the Cockpit or restart.
  • Reorder cards: right-click a card's header and choose Move up, Move down, Move to top or Move to bottom.
  • Collapse a card: click the chevron in its header. Click again to expand it.
  • Collapse the whole Cockpit: click the chevron in the title bar (Collapse to title bar). It stays collapsed until you expand it.
  • Opacity: right-click the title bar and choose Opacity, or use Cockpit opacity in Settings → HUD.

Close and bring back

  • A card's × removes it for the rest of the meeting. The Cockpit then shows a Show … button to bring it back, or use the Control HUD's … button → Show all hidden widgets.
  • The Cockpit's own × hides the whole panel. To get it back, right-click the Pause button on the Control HUD and choose Show Cockpit.
  • Everything you closed returns on its own at your next meeting.

The Control HUD

The pill shows the buttons that fit the moment. Hover one for a hint; a small ⌄ means right-click has more options.

  • Desk Mode (video camera) — show your desktop or a window instead of your camera. A blue ring means your camera is live; amber means something else is on your video.
  • Picture-in-picture — a window or screen area as an inset on your video. Pro.
  • Callout Composer — show or hide the box for putting text on your video.
  • Reactions (smiley) — put a reaction on your video. In meetings only.
  • Transcription (waveform) — pause or resume transcription. Shown when Transcribe my voice during meetings is on.
  • Card — show a plain card with your initials instead of your camera, for when you'd rather be off camera. In meetings only.
  • Sign (signpost) — show a few large words instead of your camera. See Sign. In meetings only.
  • Brief — your briefing for the meeting about to start.
  • Pause — hide or show all your HUD widgets at once. The next meeting starts unpaused.
  • Recap — your recap of the meeting that just ended.
  • … (More meeting options) — End meeting now, Restore HUD, hidden widgets, Settings… and Open Dashboard….

Brief and Recap

Brief appears shortly before a calendar meeting that has a meeting link. Turn on Pre-meeting briefing in Settings → Calendar and pick a Lead time of 5 to 20 minutes. Click Brief to open it, or right-click and choose Dismiss all briefings. Briefings are part of Pro.

Recap appears after a meeting ends and stays for 30 minutes. While it is still being written the button shows a spinner — click it to read what's ready so far. A green dot means new content has arrived. Right-click and choose Open recap now or Dismiss recap. Missed it? Use Recap last meeting in the promptpov menu in your menu bar.

End a meeting yourself

promptpov notices when a call ends. If it hasn't — say, you left the meeting window open — click … on the Control HUD and choose End meeting now.

Tips

  • If you share your entire screen, other people can see the Cockpit. Share a single window instead.
  • … → Restore HUD undoes a pause and brings back every card you closed.

Plans

The cards you can use depend on your plan: Meeting Agenda is on every plan; Notebook, Hard Stop, Pomodoro and the AI Assistant need Pro.
